Chest problems
The chest complications of a burn include:
- inhalation of hot gases
- inhalation of poisonous gases
Stridor and pulmonary oedema are the commonest presentations.
Chest infection is common. Often the same pathogens are cultured from the sputum as are found in infected burns.
