Nose picking
The anterior part of the nasal septum is called Little's area.
The mucosa of Little's area is prone to damage because:
- drying of the mucosa results in crusting and bleeding especially if the nasal septum is deviated
- there is easy access for fingers
Bleeding from Little's area is common in children.
In children the bleeding may be arterial or venous. In adults it is usually arterial blood.
