Differential diagnosis
The differential diagnosis of cavernous sinus thrombosis includes:
- carotico-cavernous fistulae due to:
- trauma
- aneurysmal rupture
- orbital or retro-orbital tumour
- unilateral exophthalmos secondary to Graves' disease
- ethmoidal sinus mucocoele
- orbital myositis
- pseudotumour
- painful opthalmoplegia
