Clinical features
Hypomagnesaemia produces a similar picture to hypocalcaemia and may through it's effects on parathyroid hormone secretion and action, cause hypocalcaemia.
Typical features include:
- tetany
- muscle twitching
- depression
- irritability and aggression
- convulsions
- tachycardia and cardiac dysrhythmias:
- ST segment depression
- T wave inversion
- prolonged QT interval
