Clinical features
These include:
- jitteriness
- feeding problems
- lethargy
- irritability
- abnormal cry
- floppiness
- pallor
- apnoea
- cyanosis
- convulsions
- coma
There may be features that connect with the underlying aetiology, for example macrosomia in the infant of the diabetic mother, jaundice in galactosaemia or sepsis, or hepatomegaly in glycogen storage disease.
