Pellagra
Pellagra is caused by deficiency of niacin and is classically characterised by four D's:
- photosensitive dermatitis
- diarrhoea
- dementia
- death
Other features include:
- stomatitis
- neuropathy
- tremor
- ataxia
- fits
- rigidity
- depression
The neurological signs may be similar to those seen in subacute combined degeneration of the cord.
It is rare in the UK.
