Systemic illness
The following systemic conditions produce changes in the nails:
- iron deficiency anaemia: koilonychia
- chronic renal failure: 'half-and-half nails'
- hypoalbuminaemia: leukonychia
- connective tissue disorders: nail fold telangiectasia
- Raynaud's phenomenon: thinning and ridging of nail plate
- various conditions: clubbing
