Side effects
Side effects of gold are common and include:
- severe reactions which may be fatal
- mouth ulcers
- skin reactions
- proteinuria
- peripheral neuropathies
- blood dyscrasias such as aplastic anaemia
Because of the nature of these side effects, patients undergoing treatment require close monitoring with monthly urinalysis and FBC's.
