Histology
There are five varieties of histiocytoma, two are common:
- storiform-pleomorphic
- myxoid
The three less common variants are inflammatory, giant cell, and angiomatoid.
In keeping with the histiocytic origin of the tumour, immunohistochemical stains are positive for:
- lysozyme
- alpha-1-antitrypsin
- alpha-1-antichymotrypsin
- factor XIIIa
