Cautions and contraindications
Cautions include:-
- hypotensive conditions, where intravenous infusion should be avoided
- tolerance, which can be avoided by allowing blood levels to fall to low concentrations for between four and eight hours a day
- interactions, for which a current issue of the BNF should be consulted - appendix 1.
Contraindications include:-
- marked anaemia
- head injury
- cerebral haemorrhage
- close angle glaucoma
