Assessment
Features from the history should include:
- parental and siblings' heights
- history of pregnancy
- history of neonatal period
- nutritional history, including current nutrition, which should be assessed by a dietician
- any relevent systemic symptoms
- social and family history
In examination attention should be paid to:
- parameters of size - height, weight, head circumference, which should be interpreted in the light of prematurity etc
- full physical examination, noting any dysmorphology, wasting, or organic dysfunction. In addition any features consistent with any form of abuse should be noted
