Finally, the following checks should be made:
- palpate peripheral pulses and check for bruits in the carotid and femoral arteries
- peripheral oedma
- peripheral vascular disease, both venous and arterial
- tendon xanthomata
- stigmata of infective endocarditis
- fundoscopy for:
- Roth's spots
- hypertensive retinopathy
- urinanalysis for the haematuria of endocarditis
- take the temperature
