Arteriovenous malformation (cerebral)
These are developmental anomalies of the intracranial vasculature. They may be any size and in any location. The middle cerebral artery is most often affected. Overall, men are affected more than women. Symptoms usually appear in the second or third decades.
They are implicated in 5% of subarachnoid haemorrhages.
