Echocardiography in HOCM
Diagnosis of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HOCM) is made by echocardiography.
Classical features include:
- asymmetrical septal hypertrophy
- systolic anterior movement of the mitral apparatus
- left ventricle is normal or small and the systolic function is exaggerated or normal
- LV outflow obstruction can be demonstrated by Doppler techniques
