Post-sinusoidal
Post hepatic causes of portal hypertension arise from venous blockage outside the liver. These are relatively infrequent causes of hypertension and include:
- Budd-Chiari syndrome - hepatic vein thrombosis
- veno-occlusive disease
- constrictive pericarditis
- right heart failure
