Incontinentia pigmenti is a rare, heritable, multisystem disorder that is thought to be transmitted in an X-linked dominant pattern of inheritance. This condition is thought to be, in general, lethal in utero in males. The scarcity of males affected by this condition adds credibility to this theory.
