Food poisoning

Food poisoning is described as an acute attack of abdominal pain and diarrhoea, with or without vomiting, lasting one or two days - up to a week in some cases, with a sudden onset of between 30 minutes and 40 hours of eating contaminated food.

Investigation and management assumes an infective aetiology.
