High or raised vitamin B12

Levels of serum vitamin B12 may be raised in:

  • chronic granulocytic leukaemia
  • acute myeloblastic leukaemia
  • acute promyelocytic leukaemia > 1600 ng/l
  • myelosclerosis
  • chronic lymphatic leukaemia
  • carcinomatosis
  • liver disease:
    • acute hepatitis
    • cirrhosis
    • chronic liver disease
    • hepatic coma
  • polycythaemia rubra vera
  • non-leukaemic leucocytosis

NOT increased in Hodgkin's lymphoma or myeloma.
