Optic tract(lesions)

Last reviewed dd mmm yyyy. Last edited dd mmm yyyy

Authoring team

Lesions of the optic tract result in loss of information from the contralateral visual hemisphere - the fibres having partially decussated in the optic chiasm.

There is perception in both eyes, but half the visual universe - the same half in each eye - is missing.

Lesions of the optic tract are uncommon.
