The Sabin polio vaccine is a live vaccine, containing live strains of polio viruses types I, II and III.

In the UK, the use or oral polio vaccine has been replaced by use of inactivated polio vaccine (1).

Oral polio vaccine is no longer available for routine use and will only be available for outbreak control (2).
